1st Graders in Worship

The study Children in Worship has been designed to help children strengthen their participation in congregational worship. As children understand what we do in worship, they can participate more fully.

Each year we host a Children in Worship Workshop in early fall. Please feel free to contact the church for the exact date. The workshop is hosted on a Saturday from 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m., including a parent meeting from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. All particiapting students will be recognized during our 11:00 worship service the following Sunday.

Attending worship service is one of the basic ways in which people practice their faith. As a part of our Baptismal promise to nurture all children committed to our care, it becomes essential that we include children in our worship experience.

Children learn that they belong to Christ and are welcomed in his church, where we are all children of God.

Children become familiar with the Order of Worship, learning sung and spoken responses.

Children feel a sense of belonging that comes from being included in a Christian community.

Children are enriched by the beauty of the music as an expression of praise and as a response to God.

Children hear stories from the Bible read and begin to see Christian worship as one place where God may speak to them.

Children discover they are valued as persons by God and by the people of God.

During this workshop, your child will be involved in active learning. We will learn about the elements of worship and the sacraments of baptism and communion.

The parent session will inform the parents about the program and the recognition service the next day. We will close the workshop with Pastor Jack  serving communion to the children and parents.

First graders will continue to go to childcare during worship services until the completion of this workshop. We look forward to them joining us in worship each Sunday after that.

If you would like your child to participate, please call Marcia Ketner at the church office 972-231-1005 ext. 13 or via email.
