Welcome to Arapaho's Children's Sunday School

Here at Arapaho we are committed to bringing the love and Word of God to all children.  Children's Sunday school is available for children 2 years of age - Senior High.  We hope that you will join us each Sunday Morning at 9:45!

All of the curriculum for the children's Sunday school classes, confirmation class and other special classes are chosen from United Methodist approved publishers. This ensures that all materials and lessons are in keeping with United Methodist beliefs and doctrines.

Youth and Children’s Sunday School

Regular Sunday school classes will resume on September 7, 2008. There are a few details to be taken care of prior to that date and a few Sunday’s for you to mark on your calendar.

Thank you to everyone who responded to the need for shepherds. We do still have a couple of positions to fill, and it is important we fill these positions by August 17. If you have been considering this ministry as a part of your service to the church but need more information, please call Marcia Ketner.

The Children’s Education Committee has decided to make some changes to the age levels participating in the Scripture in Motion program. Our fifth grade students have seemed to be losing interest in the program, and we feel as though they need a little more depth to their studies. Creating a “Sunday School” class for this group of students would allow us to offer curriculum-based studies providing more one on one and in-depth studies of faith-based issues. We believe creating this class will also better prepare these students for the Confirmation process, when they reach the sixth grade. To offer this class, we need two dedicated adults willing to teach for the nine-month church school calendar. (September-May). Curriculum is provided, and you will have the complete support of the Children’s Education Committee and me.

Our Junior and Senior High Sunday School classes will combine into one class this year. We are looking for two more adults to join me and Kevin Ash as in a teaching team. We have been meeting with the youth with regard to the types of things they would like to study. Our youth have some incredible ideas, and we will use the first few weeks in September to develop the fall and spring syllabus with them. This is going to be an exciting time as we seek to rejuvenate and grow our youth Sunday school program.

We offer a parent-sponsored ministry for third-fifth grade students called Children for Christ. (CFC) This ministry gives these students the opportunity to gather in fellowship outside of our normal Sunday programming. We will host our kick-off event for the 2008-2009 season on September 7, 2008, from 2 p.m.-4 p.m. We ask that parents attend this meeting with their children. Each month, a different group of parents will sign up to sponsor that month’s event, so please bring your calendar and your ideas for activities.

Fall registration will take place on Sunday, August 24, 2008, during the Sunday school hour. Please note the following registration locations based on grade levels.

2 year olds            Room # 13
3 year olds            Room # 15
Pre-K-5th grade        Fellowship Hall
Junior and Senior High    Room # 4
Confirmation Class        Fellowship Hall

As you can see, it truly does take a village to raise these children. We need your support through your gifts, talents, love, and prayers. If you would like to become involved in some way, even other than the opportunities listed here, please call me at the church office. Because of those who give of themselves, we are able to offer ministries that help shape the faith of our children.
