Got Kids? AUMC Childcare Program
The AUMC Childcare Program is happy to provide a safe, caring, and nurturing environment for your children while you enjoy Sunday School, Sunday Services, Church Meeting and other church activities.
Sunday Mornings
Our Sunday morning childcare program provides childcare for all children ages 0-2 during Sunday School. 2+ have their own Sunday School class. Lap Activity Pads are available for children age 6-10 who attend the service. Look for the age-appropriate Lap Pad baskets in the Narthex.
During the service, a brief children's sermon is held in which all children are invited to the front of the sanctuary for a message and a song. Children in AUMC Childcare are brought to the sanctuary for this special time by their caregivers and return to childcare with their group. All other children return to sit with their families in the sanctuary. After the children's sermon, the children in childcare have a snack, and weather permitting, play on the playground and participate in other activities such as arts and crafts.
For Your Child's Safety
All staff and volunteers have passed a criminal background check and have many years of experience working with children. Childcare staff and volunteers are designated by a pink badge and/or yellow apron. If you have any questions regarding the program or need assistance, please ask our childcare personnel.
Childcare Identification Badges
Each child 0-Kindergarten have a color-coded identification badge and must wear the ID Badge while in our care. Parents will receive a matching badge. Please be sure to check the information carefully and indicate any corrections on the sign-in sheets. Parents, you must present this badge when picking up your child. Repeat Visitors - please fill out an enrollment form and every effort will be taken to have a badge made for your child by the next Sunday.
Check-In Procedures

8:30am Service:
Sign in at the Nursery (Room 9.)
11:00am Service: Age 0-3, sign in at the Nursery (Room 9.) Age 4-6, sign in at the Fireplace Room (Room 12.)
If your child is attending Sunday School at 9:45am, sign in at the designated classroom. During Sunday School, be sure to indicate Extended Care on the sign-in sheet and we will pick your child up and bring them directly to childcare so you won't have to and enable a smoother transition for you and your child.
Check-Out Procedure
Pick up your child from the Fireplace room or Nursery immediately following service unless prior arrangements has been made with the Director. Please remember your child's identification badge. Please do not send siblings or other family members without prior arrangement with a Care worker. This is for your child's safety and will be enforced at all times.
What To Bring
Please remember to label all of your child's belonging and consider the weather. We do play outside if it is not too cold, so leave outerwear with the Sunday School teacher or a childcare staff member (designated by a yellow apron and pink badge.) For children who are not yet potty trained, bring a diaper bag clearly labeled with their name and include at least one change of diapers, training pants, and a spare outfit.
How You Can Help Us
In order to maintain the safest child to adult ratio, we need volunteers. We ask that every parent/guardian help at the 11:00am Service at least two Sundays during the year. Donations of healthy snacks are also welcomed. Volunteers and snack sign up sheets (with a list of desired snacks) are located on the bulletin board outside the Fireplace Room.
Other Childcare Available
Childcare is available by appointment for any church sponsored activity, such as committee meetings, Bible studies, choir practice, etc. To schedule childcare please contact the office via email or call 972-231-1005.
We look forward to the expansion of our program to meet the needs of our growing church family. We believe that communication will be the key to our success, so we will be updating our bulletin board and sending out emails and other communications throughout the year to highlight changes and enhancements to the program. We look forward to providing many family oriented activities, such as the Easter Egg Hunt and Advent Family Workshop. If you would like to receive these emails, make sure we have your email address.
Feedback Is Welcome
Please let us know if you have any questions, concerns, or ideas. We would love to hear from you. Please contact Marcia Ketner at 972-231-1005 or via email.
